Violence against women in higher education
Violence against women (VAW) is a universal phenomenon, and higher education institutions (HEIs), where female enrollment and participation have increased significantly, are no exception.
On November 25, on the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, UNESCO IESALC called on women in higher education institutions in Latin America and the Caribbean to participate in a regional campaign that seeks to understand better whether and how women students, faculty and staff have experienced violence as part of their campus life.
The event will discuss this important topic and present some preliminary data on a regional pilot survey done to assess VAW in Latin American and Caribbean institutions.
