Ecuador ratifies the Regional Convention on the Recognition of Higher Education Qualifications
The Government of Ecuador deposited the instrument of ratification to the Regional Convention for the Recognition of Studies, Titles and Diplomas of Higher Education in Latin America and the Caribbean (2019).
Through the ratification of the Regional Convention, Ecuador commits to giving full effect to the principles and provisions of the Convention, ensuring that the recognition of academic qualifications conferred by other State parties will be carried out in a timely and fair manner, favouring opportunities for mobility and learning for all, including refugees and displaced people.
The deposit of the instrument of ratification by Ecuador coincides with the announcement of the Second session of the Committee of the aforementioned Regional Convention to be held in Havana, Cuba, on February 9, 2024, within the framework of the Fourteenth International Conference on Higher Education, Universidad 2024.
The UNESCO International Institute for Higher Education in Latin America and the Caribbean (IESALC), as Secretariat of the Regional Convention, invites all States of the Latin American and Caribbean region to sign this Convention and, as soon as possible after its subscription, deposit the instruments of ratification, acceptance, approval or accession, as appropriate.
The Regional Convention aims to become the reference framework of guidelines, recommendations and good practices for applying this Convention, considering the pertinent decisions of the State parties to facilitate recognition processes and promote academic mobility.
