Basic guidelines for the recognition of Venezuelan academic degrees and diplomas
Derived from the Work Plan 2023-2024 of the Secretariat of the Regional Convention publishes the Working Document No.5 entitled “Basic Guidelines for the Recognition of Venezuelan Academic Degrees and Diplomas”.
This work is intended to be a reference guide and a support tool to be used both by public officials with a legal mandate for the recognition of foreign degrees and diplomas, as well as by institutions of higher education, mainly in countries neighboring the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, which receive a large number of Venezuelan migrants.
This guide covers the legal architecture that structures and regulates the Venezuelan higher education system, including the bilateral agreements signed by Venezuela with third countries with scope in the recognition of academic degrees and diplomas. It also covers the taxonomy of all higher education institutions in Venezuela and the degrees and diplomas they confer.
Finally, the book presents a section of the most frequently asked questions, as submitted by agents involved in the practice of academic recognition in the Latin American region. This list contains the answers to these questions in a clear and concise manner.
We hope that this guide fulfills its purpose and becomes a useful tool for the understanding of the Venezuelan higher education system, the ecosystem of institutions that compose it, and the degrees they confer. Likewise, being a working document under permanent construction, it is open to be modified and expanded in future versions. In particular, the Committee and the Secretariat of the Regional Convention welcome the contributions of the States Parties to this convention, as well as those of professionals working in the field of academic recognition and mobility.
