CRES+5 will bring together around 2,000 people to debate higher education
Around 2,000 people will take part in CRES+5 – the follow-up meeting to the III Regional Conference on Higher Education in Latin America and the Caribbean (CRES 2018) – which will take place from March 13 to 15 at the Brazil International Convention Center in Brasilia (DF). The meeting is organized by the Ministry of Education of the Federative Republic of Brazil (MEC) – through the the Secretariat for Higher Education (SESu) and the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES) – in partnership with the UNESCO International Institute for Higher Education in Latin America and the Caribbean (UNESCO IESALC) and the Latin American and Caribbean Higher Education Area (ENLACES).
Divided into 12 thematic axes of discussion, CRES+5 will be the opportunity to analyze the achievements of higher education in the region and establish priorities for the next CRES, scheduled for 2028. The aim is to highlight the progress made since the 2018 Conference, as well as the remaining challenges and emerging issues, especially after the Covid-19 pandemic crisis.
The meeting will include symposia, round tables, lectures and other programs. On the last day, the analysis and drafting of each of the thematic axes – carried out since August 2023 by the Working Groups (WGs) – will be finalized, as well as the drafting of the Conference Declaration. Part of the program will be broadcast live.
