ESS Journal has a new editorial team
On Wednesday 1 May, the new editorial team of the UNESCO IESALC Journal Higher Education and Society (ESS) was formally established. Its new general editor is Professor Carlos Iván Moreno Arellano, Rector of the Virtual University System of the University of Guadalajara (UdeG), Mexico, who will manage the journal together with research professors Blanca Inguanzo Arias, Ricardo Pérez Mora, Alejandra Flores Zamora y Jorge Flores Orozco, from the UdeG, as associate editors.
The editorial committee that preceded them was directed by Professor Norberto Fernández Lamarra and formed by Professors Marisa Álvarez, Pablo García, and Cristian Perez Centeno. This team was in charge of the edition of 6 issues containing 139 papers in total and with the participation of 120 referees from 18 countries.
“It is an honour to build together on the solid foundations left by Professor Lamarra’s team in a line of continuity of development with the work of UNESCO IESALC,” said Moreno, the new general editor of ESS. In addition, he added that Magdalena Bustos Aguirre, Wendy Díaz Pérez and José Navarro Cendejas, also from UdeG, will join the team as members of the academic and editorial advisory committee.
Francesc Pedró, UNESCO IESALC director, highlighted as part of the work carried out over the last three years, the inclusion of articles in the original language of Latin America as editorial policy and in favour of the inclusion of diversity, an idea that will be maintained in the future, either with articles on a native peoples language, or addressing the situation of minorities in higher education.
