New course for the recognition of Venezuelan academic degrees and diplomas
The Regional Convention Secretariat and the Capacity Building Unit of IESALC convene to participate in the self-managed online course, starting on 25 October. With a 12-hour course load, this programme will allow the acquisition of new knowledge at a personalised pace about the Venezuelan higher education system and the degrees and diplomas conferred by it.
In a globalised world, the recognition of academic degrees and diplomas is essential to guarantee the professional and academic mobility of human talent. In this framework, UNESCO IESALC has designed the course, ‘Basic Guidelines for the Recognition of Venezuelan Academic Degrees and Diplomas,’ to provide a clear and practical understanding of the process of recognising academic credentials obtained in Venezuela.
Participants will learn the taxonomy of higher education institutions in Venezuela, the degrees and diplomas they confer, and the legalisation, apostille and other processes that operate in the country, and which are continually questioned by officials in neighbouring countries with responsibilities for the recognition of foreign academic qualifications. Through a structure organised in 3 content modules, we will explore the current legal regulations, the actors with an express legal mandate in the recognition of foreign qualifications in Venezuela, the characteristics of the Venezuelan higher education system, among others.
This course is aimed at education professionals, academic advisors, immigration and/or foreign qualification recognition officials, and anyone interested in understanding and facilitating the recognition of Venezuelan academic qualifications abroad. Through a combination of theory and case studies, participants will develop the skills necessary to successfully navigate the recognition process, thus ensuring that educational achievements are properly valued and recognised anywhere in the world.
The 12-hour asynchronous course will be tutored by José Antonio Quinteiro Goris, programme coordinator at UNESCO IESALC, a specialist in cross-border academic mobility, the right to education and related rights.
