CIES 2022 Conference: Illuminating the Power of Idea/lism
18 April, 2022 hora: 7:00 am - 8:30 am
The Comparative & International Education Society (CIES2022) conference theme Illuminating the Power of Idea/lism arises from the intersection of two immutable realities of our time and the impact both are having on the field of comparative and international education. The first is our global experience with the COVID-19 pandemic. The second is the rise of nativism and fundamentalism representing both ideological rigidity and political divisiveness.
The CIES theme seeks to find ways to address these challenges by bringing forward new ideas with a sense of idealism as educationists. It is grounded in the context of time, place, and possibility.
It will be a hybrid conference, with opportunities for some virtual participation. Onsite, you will experience a full conference with powerful keynote speakers, plenary situations designed to renew bonds between CIES attendees, social and cultural events.
Emma Sabzalieva, Dana Abdrasheva, Eglis Chacón, Luz Gamarra and Bosen Lily Liu, from the UNESCO IESALC research and analysis team, will present the work on the Futures of higher education on Monday 18 April. The aim of this public consultation was to understand people’s hopes and concerns for the future and learn how these hopes and concerns relate to ideas about the futures of higher education. Public consultation creates a platform for joint thinking about the future in 2050 and beyond, and higher education’s role in it. Mon, April 18, 6:00h to 7:30h CDT (7:00 to 8:30h – UTC -04).
