“Higher education’s leading role in tackling global challenges” in THE’s Global Sustainable Development Congress
31 October, 2022 hora: 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm
THE’s Global Sustainable Development Congress, hosted in partnership with the University of Glasgow and The Times Higher Education, aims to unite higher education, governments, industry and civil society to ensure a more sustainable future. The event named “Uniting Higher Education, Governments, Industry and Society for a Sustainable Future” will be held from 31 October to 2 November 2022, in Glasgow, UK.
This three-day event will deliver an immersive, multi-track agenda tackling the big issues around Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with world leaders and influencers sharing their insights on the challenges faced in converting the goals into action and impact.
In these complex times, rising to the challenges posed by the SDGs requires effective partnerships between all pillars of society. Combining thought-provoking panels with collaborative workshops, this event will deliver bold insights and create powerful new alliances between sectors.
Victoria Galán-Muros, Head of Research and Analysis at UNESCO IESALC, will take part in the panel: “Higher education’s leading role in tackling global challenges”, on October, 31 from 2:00 to 3:00 (GMT+0).
Higher education institutions are positioned in a critical nexus between government, business and society. Through their research and teachings, they are taking a leading role in tackling global challenges.
- What more can they do to facilitate and drive meaningful change?
- What is needed to enable them to do so?
- What can higher education institutions deliver and achieve that cannot be replicated by any other type of organisation?
This panel will consider these questions for the sector, reflecting how different institutions across the globe are rising to the challenge.
