Addressing violence against women in higher education institutions #IWD2023
8 March, 2023 hora: 10:00 am - 11:30 am
Violence against women (VAW) is a universal phenomenon that occurs in various spaces, including government, private sector and higher education institutions (HEIs), to name a few. This calls for the analysis and further promotion and establishment of strong guidelines at HEIs worldwide as a guiding principle for building a non-violent and more sustainable tertiary education system.
Last November 25, on the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, UNESCO IESALC called on women in higher education institutions in Latin America and the Caribbean to participate in a regional campaign that seeks to better understand whether and how women students, faculty and staff have experienced violence as part of their campus life.
The event will discuss this important topic and present some preliminary data on a regional pilot survey done to assess VAW in Latin American and Caribbean institutions.
