‘Sustainable University Leadership and Governance Programme. Towards the 2030 Agenda’

The ‘Sustainable University Leadership and Governance Programme. On the road to the 2030 Agenda’ has the fundamental purpose of promoting capacities in higher education institutions (HEIs) that support their sustainable transformation process.
The second edition of the programme begins in Madrid (Spain), where rectors will share experiences and good practices with world experts in sustainability during three days of work and reflection. In collaboration with Casa de América, the sessions will take place on 2, 3 and 4 October 2024 at Linares Palace. UNESCO IESALC has developed this programme to strengthen the urgent efforts towards sustainability and quality education for all, in order to achieve the goals set out in a roadmap that strengthens the institutional strategic plan of each institution.
HEIs play a fundamental role in the education of future professionals, responding to global challenges and a changing world. International agreements, governmental and from different sectors, have agreed on this challenge and have developed commitments that seek to facilitate the transition towards university sustainability, identifying mobilising actions that must be taken to ensure quality education, collaborate in the reduction of the degradation of the natural environment, favour regeneration, the care of ecosystems and the permanence of humanity.

Visit to two leading universities in the implementation of a strategy aimed at achieving the goals of the 2030 Agenda.
