Workshop for technical and technological certification in Panamazonia

19 March 2024 hora: 8:00 am - 21 March 2024 hora: 6:00 pm

The event, which will be held in Brasilia from 19 to 21 March, will present the proposal of the Amazonian University Programme – PUAM as an initiative that wants to respond to the Amazonian territorial reality and its peoples and communities in the light of the mandate of the Amazonian Synod and the call of Pope Francis to seek other modes of higher education that allow people to be subjects of their own history, and to know, from the experience of the participating universities and associated bodies, the national policies and regulations for technical and technological certification/qualifications (International Standard Classification of Education – ISCED- 5), of the participating countries (Ecuador, Colombia, Brazil and Peru) to carry out a comparative analysis exercise, define a common working route and constitute a technical commission to accompany the process of connection and homologation of the academic offer of the Amazonian University Programme (PUAM).

Specific objectives:

  • To share the PUAM proposal, its origin, scope and challenges, in light of the need to structure a higher education proposal that reaches the most excluded territories and peoples.
  • To present the concepts and essential elements of the regulations corresponding to each country for the regulation of technical and technological training (ISCED 5).
  • Identify the points of connection, similarities and differences between the requirements of this type of higher education, and define a joint work route to continue promoting this common effort.
  • Share the training outline (macro-curriculum) proposed by the PUAM, and the elements specific to each country that have advanced in this regard.
  • Set up a Pan-Amazonian technical commission, comprising technical representatives from the participating universities and specialised bodies, which can accompany the technical and technological certification processes in the different countries of the Pan-Amazon region, and in turn facilitate this process in their respective countries in order to present the PUAM’s academic offer in alliance with this network of institutions.
  • Review the proposal for an inter-institutional framework agreement with all the participating universities, and with the support bodies as witnesses of this process.

José Antonio Quinteiro, Programme Coordinator for UNESCO IESALC, will participate in the workshop.
