8 December, 2021 hora: 2:45 pm - 3:35 pm

On the occasion of Human Rights Day whose theme this year is Equality, and to conclude the year-long campaign celebrating the 60th anniversary of the UNESCO Convention against discrimination in education, UNESCO organizes the International Seminar on the Evolving Right to Education.

The Seminar, to be held online on 7 and 8  December 2021, will bring together country representatives, internationally known experts, members of the civil society and others, to engage in discussions on the necessity of the evolution of this right from different aspects, being conceptual, legal, political, or technical, as well as identifying the areas that need further regulation in order to respond to new and emerging challenges, and their implications for ensuring quality education and lifelong learning opportunities for all.

The format of the Seminar consists of a high-level plenary session (7 December, 14:30 – 16:00 CET), followed by parallel sessions (8 December, 13:30 – 16:00 CET) which will delve further into the evolving dimensions of the right to education to further respond to current and future needs.

Francesc Pedró, UNESCO IESALC‘s director will moderate the parallel session 5: Right to higher education from 14.45 to 15.35 CET on December 8, 2021.
