Webinar: Transformation of Higher Education Institutions in Latin America and the Caribbean for the achievement of SDGs | Colombia
16 March, 2022 hora: 9:00 am - 10:40 am
For several years, higher education institutions and networks have publicly expressed their commitment to contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) proposed by the United Nations in the 2030 Agenda.
In November 2021, they agreed to jointly participate in the preparatory process for the third UNESCO World Higher Education Conference, specifically regarding the topic “Higher Education and SDGs”. To this end, they actively participate in the consultation of the UNESCO International Institute for Higher Education in Latin America and the Caribbean (UNESCO IESALC), which is collecting the voices of the different interest groups related to higher education in the region on the ten World Conference topics.
According to one of the four forms of participation defined in the UNESCO IESALC consultation, the Observatory of Sustainability in Higher Education in Latin America and the Caribbean (Observatorio de la Sustentabilidad en la Educación Superior de América Latina y el Caribe (OSES-ALC)), the Alliance of Iberoamerican University Network for Sustainability and the Environment (Alianza de Redes Iberoamericanas de Universidades por la Sustentabilidad y el Ambiente (ARIUSA)), the Association of Universities of Latin American and the Caribbean for Integration (Asociación de Universidades de América Latina y el Caribe para la Integración (AUALCPI)) and the University of Applied and Environmental Sciences (Universidad de Ciencias Aplicadas y Ambientales (U.D.C.A)) organize the webinar “Transformation of Higher Education Institutions in Latin America and the Caribbean for the achievement of SDGs”, on March 16, 2022 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:40 a.m. (Bogotá, Colombia time).
Francesc Pedró, UNESCO IESALC director; Germán Anzola Montero, rector of the University of Applied and Environmental Sciences (U.D.C.A); Alejandro Velasco, member of the research team of the Observatory of Sustainability in Higher Education in Latin America and the Caribbean (OSES-ALC), and Ángela María Plata, member of the Management Committee of the Alliance of Iberoamerican University Network for Sustainability and the Environment (ARIUSA) will be part of the speakers.
The purpose of the forum is:
- Inform about the actions that the participating institutions and networks are carrying out and planning to promote the transformation that is required in Higher Education Institutions in Latin America and the Caribbean to contribute to the achievement of SDGs.
- Dialogue about the possibilities of coordinating actions of different institutions and networks to promote the transformation of regional HEIs for the achievement of SDGs.
